The composition Drei is conceptually based on constructed trinities. A trinity in this context means a within completed construct of three complementary time-based terms.
The three basic form parts – Fläche, Raster and Deformation – are broken down in a tree-like structure on two further, hierarchically descending levels into always three time-based, conceptual trinities. Finally, the terms located at the lowest end of the tree are instrumentally linked by mapping to corresponding musical parameters, techniques, materials, or dramaturgical conclusions. Thus, the last three terms in each case represent, in their trinity, the musical state superordinate at the next higher level. This in turn, together with the next two in its magnitude, forms the corresponding form part in the macro level. In the compositional execution itself, trinities are constructed in various abstract forms. However, the trinities of the path ends within a form part are not composed isolated from each other: Components anticipate each other, overlap, or proceed in non-chronological order, so that the concept sees itself less as a rigid diagram but more as representing an organic-fluctuating, musical state of a thought-constructed trinity.
